MANAGING PARTNER

As Managing Partner and Chief Executive Officer, John oversees DDE’s efforts in sourcing, structuring, executing and monitoring investments. He chairs the Investment, Investment Process and Monitoring Committees and is a member of DDE’s Executive Committee. John founded DDE in 2019.

Prior to founding DDE, John led several software and technology companies that leveraged artificial intelligence in heavy industry and analog technology sectors to drive improved outcomes. Earlier in his career, John worked in the energy investment banking groups at Lazard Frères and TPH & Co. where he focused on merger, acquisition, and divestiture transactions. Previously, John served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy where he deployed globally in support of national security and intelligence collection goals and missions. John has spent decades helping to ensure the engines of innovation and artificial intelligence are available to American industry and national security missions today and for the missions of the future.

John received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in New York, master’s degrees from Harvard and the Defense Intelligence College, and a M.B.A from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business in 2012

CO-MANAGING PARTNER

David joined the partnership and assumed the role of President of DDE in 2023, having been an individual investor in the DDE inaugural fund. His responsibilities include marketing, fundraising, communications with limited partners, compliance, and relationships with third-party service providers, including the fund administrator. Additionally, David is involved with business development efforts, together with origination and execution of new investments, and participates in the ongoing oversight of portfolio investments. He is a member of the Investment, Investment Process and Monitoring Committees, as well as, Audit Committee, and is a member of DDE’s Executive Committee.

Prior to joining DDE, David spent approximately 25 years in investment banking, 20 of which at Credit Suisse, matriculating from first-year analyst in investment banking, to Managing Director and Head of Leveraged Finance Origination in North America, for the eight years preceding 2020. He has very substantial experience in energy financing, and wide exposure to the oil and gas industry, particularly in the undervalued upstream oil & gas verticals which DDE has targeted. Over his career, David has raised more than $500bn of debt and equity for growth-oriented companies, spanning natural resources, heavy industry, media, telecommunications, and technology.

David received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree in Accounting from The George Washington University, where he was a Presidential scholarship recipient.

CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

As Chief Technology Officer, Bill is responsible for driving DDE's technology strategy and innovation. Prior to founding DDE, Bill held similar technology roles at several software and technology companies that leveraged artificial intelligence in heavy industry and analog technology sectors to drive improved outcomes.

Earlier in his career, Bill was part of the Powder River Basin team at EOG Resources where he designed and implemented analytical and data driven techniques to drive improvement in field operations. Previously, Bill served in the United States Air Force, where he deployed globally in support of natural security missions. Bill received a bachelor’s degree from Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.

CHIEF DATA OFFICER

Laszlo serves as Chief Data Officer of DDE and oversees the firm’s artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, and data analytics functions. He joined DDE in 2021. Laszlo is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and AI Model Committee.

Prior to joining DDE, Laszlo was the Co-Founder and President of HeadRace, a marketplace for boutique recruiting services and a developer of AI-powered recruiting technology. He has also held senior data leadership roles at Realtor.com and Flexport. Earlier in his career, Laszlo founded and ran the Marketplace Data Science efforts at Uber, which was responsible for Surge Pricing, Matching Optimization, Supply Positioning, UberPool, and UberEats pricing and logistics. He started his career at Goldman Sachs as a strat on the Fixed Income desk.

As a leader in the Data and Artificial Intelligence space, he has led the real-world application of machine learning models that have generated over $1B of incremental annual revenue and value. He holds multiple patents related to the practical application of artificial intelligence and machine learning in analog industries.

Laszlo holds a PhD in Econometrics and Statistics from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, which he completed in under 3 years. His research focused on Bayesian Statistics and Financial Econometrics involving computational methods on the first versions of Nvidia’s parallelized GPUs. He also holds an MBA and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Chicago and a BS in Mathematics and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated summa cum laude.
